Zunyi No. 4 High School was established early in 1915. It has been a provincial model school awarded by the government of Guizhou Province since 1953.  It has been awarded many titles such as the Advanced School of Moral Education of Guizhou Province, the Experimental Model School for Popularization of K-12 Schools of Guizhou Province, the Experimental Teaching Model School of Guizhou Province, the Model School of Modern Educational Technology in China and the Model High School of Guizhou Province and so on successively.

The school contains 42 teaching classes with more than 2,300 students. It has an area of 36,400 square meters with the greening space of 8000 square meters and the construction area covering for 23,000 square meters. There is a sports field with a 300-meter-long plastic round track in our school and the school has modern facilities for teaching activities such as school net, four multi-functional rooms and three computer rooms, 10 modern classrooms for physics and chemistry experiments, 2 multi-media language laboratories , and classrooms for art , music and dancing . The school has a library with over 80,000 books and magazines. Each classroom has multi-media teaching facility.

Our faculties and staff are of high levels, compared to those from other schools in this city. The school has more than 100 professional lecturers, 60 of whom are special class or senior teachers, among which 30 of them are first-ranking teachers. Moreover, there are 14 outstanding teachers of national and provincial level, and over 20 postgraduates and pre-masters.

It has been 90 years since the establishment of the school, we have cultivated masses of out-standing students, such as Shi Yongyan, a famous writer; Ma Wenjun, former vice-governor of Guizhou province, and Li Ru xun, a famous metal-incising expert and so on.

Since 1999, many students from the school have been participating in the nation-wide Olympic Competitions for high school students and ten of them have been awarded the first, the second and the third prizes. In Guizhou competitive area, four of them have got the first places and 63 of them have got great achievements. The ratio of the students admitted by top universities of our country is about 40%. The ratio of the students who entered the colleges and universities is about 95%.
